  • Eight Injured in Three-Car Crash on Lankford Highway

    Car accident lawyers

On Friday, eight people suffered serious injuries in a three-vehicle crash on Lankford Highway. According to Virginia State Police, the driver of a southbound dark gray SUV lost control of the vehicle and hydroplaned across the median, striking two other vehicles near the 26200 block of Lankford Highway.

Officials said all occupants in the SUV, including two young children, a woman and her 7-year-old from the second vehicle, and two women, one elderly, from the third all suffered serious injuries in the crash. Emergency responders transported the injured to area hospitals in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, including Children’s Hospital of King’s Daughters, Virginia Beach General Hospital, and Riverside Hospital. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Hydroplaning crashes typically occur when wet conditions cause a vehicle’s tires to lose contact with the road, resulting in a sudden loss of traction that causes the driver to lose control of the vehicle. Factors such as speed, tire tread, road design, and visibility can all play a role in hydroplaning crashes, which makes determining liability in multi-vehicle accidents involving hydroplaning more complex.
