Anchor Legal Group, PLLC recently filed a wrongful death suit on behalf of the family of a young man who died after a confrontation with police. Donovon Lynch, 25, died after suffering multiple gunshot wounds that the lawsuit claims were fired by an unprovoked local police officer. Josh Coe and Anthony Gantous of Anchor Legal Group, PLLC are representing the victim’s family.
The wrongful death suit claims that Lynch made no antagonistic actions toward the police officer before he discharged his weapon. Further, the police officer’s body cam was not turned on at the time of the incident.
The lawsuit identifies a specific police officer as being the one responsible for the shooting, although authorities have not confirmed that officer’s involvement. The City of Virginia Beach is also named in the lawsuit, which seeks $50 million in damages and $350,000 in punitive damages against the officer.
